omega8cc commentedDuplicate: #2238261: Aegir tasks not running due to incomplete barracuda+octopus upgrade
Comment #2
yazzou commentedWell i seem to have upgraded successfully after running the required commands and finally received the confirmation email in wich i can read : "Your Aegir Hosting System has been upgraded to version BOA-2.2.3"
I still have all the verify tasks pending for more that half an hour now ! It usually takes much less than that and after upgrades i could see in the previous times tasks running but none of them right now seems to run...
I have first upgraded barracuda and then octopus by typing :
The last lines of barracuda and octopus log files :

yazzou commentedI have tried a new update barracuda + octopus and nothing changed my tasks are still pending, none of them worked...

omega8cc commentedPlease debug this on your end before re-opening duplicate issue, and only if you will be able to provide a proof that your issue is not a duplicate. Thanks.
omega8cc commentedAlso, keep in mind that your initial request here was a 100% duplicate, because your own log confirmed that you failed to follow docs and you didn't run full barracuda+octopus upgrades. The last line in https://drupal.org/files/issues/octopus_log_16.txt is:
Fri Apr 4 12:52:03 CEST 2014 / Debian.squeeze x86_64 / Aegir BOA-2.2.1 / Octopus BOA-2.2.1 / FPM 5.3 / CLI 5.3

yazzou commentedi have read the issue you are talking about, and what is suggested is not solving my issue. After upgrade i have restarted nginx manually because it wasn't running and the only error message i had during the upgrade was related to nginx. Please look at attached files.
Also, i tried the bash /var/xdrago/run-myuser
I got this

omega8cc commentedThis is a very clear explanation, I suppose?
You must determine what causes the high load, which paused tasks queue, and then fix the problem on your end.
yazzou commentedNamed is permanently taking 50 % or more of CPU. I wonder why, as i have note touched the configuration file of this service. Maybe a new configuration related to barracuda update causing this ? I fully rely on your scripts to configure the server and i never edit any file.
I have googled to find some solutions but all of them propose to either edit config files, change owner rights, etc. I do not want to touch anything that could break my install.

omega8cc commentedNo idea. Are you using named for anything? Have you tried to simply restart it? or reboot the server?
yazzou commentedNo i am not using named for anything...i am hosting 1 non drupal site (wordpress) and the only extra settings i made on the server are related to it (i followed instructions a barracuda issue to do it (https://drupal.org/node/1416798#comment-5514218).
I have rebooted the server and apparently named disappeared from processes listed as the new attached file indicates. However, the octopus instance seems to be offline, now...when i try to login to see the tasks i see this :

omega8cc commentedSorry, this is already way beyond the support we can offer here and way off-topic.
You should never install services you don't need. Now figure out how to remove it and determine why you are receiving other errors by inspecting system logs etc.
yazzou commentedEverything seems to be back after waiting a while following the server restart. I don't what caused "named" eating all the resources and preventing me from using the system normally. Thanks for your patience !

omega8cc commentedOK, thanks.
