Hello,

sometimes I need to correct spelling or formatting issues on users' posts (ex. pasted from word) or just renaming a path alias. This triggers notify and users get email not understanding what is changed in their posts.

I tried to manually disable notify for a specific content type, make my corrections then re-enable it: no email triggered.

The side effect of this workaround is lost notifications if _another_ user posts a new genuine content while I'm doing minor maintenance tasks.

Feature proposed: disable notify for minor changes with a flag on the single content or disable triggering notify emails on a single user basis.

Thank you,

FG

Correction: emails are triggered anyway, even disabling notify by content-type before editing a node then re-enabling it.

Disabling for minor changes should become a priority feature :)

The ability to disable notifications on updates is in progress with code in HEAD.

There's currently no simple way to disable it on a per-node basis, because notify doesn't store per-node information. It merely looks at the state of things at the moment the the mailing process begins.

I'd consider patches that provide a means for this, but at this point, it sounds like you're in need of one of the more comprehensive messaging frameworks.
