If, in situations where you may have multiple content types that you need to order, when set to show title only it might be difficult to differentiate the types. Perhaps you could allow nodeorder to show content type as well as title?

An alternative to above would be to allow nodeorder to only show certain content types by selection. So, for a given taxonomy term, the user could set up nodeorder to only show a specific content type in relation to the term.

Does this still make sense for 6.x?

It's an easy fix, and could be combined with this issue: http://drupal.org/node/402630

Did this get any attention in the past years? An option to differentiate between different node types on the order page sounds useful for effective ordering of nodes.

If the order display could be overriden by a view table, draggable views could be used to handle drag and drop. Then everyone could use the power of views to design the ordering process to his/her needs.
