Hi,

I really like this module.
It would really help me though, if it worked with the Automatic Nodetitles module: http://drupal.org/project/auto_nodetitle.

I would help if I could. But I'm not sure where I should start.
If you can give me a hint, I'd like to give it a try!

Grtz,
Hans

I've tested the module with Automatic Nodetitles and title generation seems to work for me, choosing "Automatically generate the title and hide the title field" or "Automatically generate the title if the title field is left empty" does not matter for Node Widget. The only thing you should do is to manually hide the "Title" field from within the widget setting page of the field using node widget. Let me know if this solves your problem.

Title: Compatibility with Automatic Nodetitles » Compatibility with PHP 5.3

I've tried that...
It works ok if the node is not empty. Bravo!
But it doesn't when it is... Bummer.

I think it's the PHP 5.3 compatibility though.
My host has upgraded to 5.3 so I can't go back.
I've tried fixing it myself... but getting into a whole lot of trouble there...
Not that good at programming PHP/drupal yet.

So I guess my request changes from the compatibility to automatic node titles to PHP 5.3.
Hope you can do something for me there...

Furthermore, I would like to know if your working on supporting the CCK FileField.
I want to offer my help there if your not...

Grtz,
Hans

Compatibility with PHP 5.3 is not really the issue, I think. Node Widget does not create nodes that are empty, this is due to the fact that multiple cck fields always have at least one empty widget at the bottom, if not the "not empty" condition the module would create (and reference) a new node each time the main node form is submitted. If you want to use auto node title with node widget you cant create nodes having only the title.

The problem is that Automatic Nodetitles reacts in hook_form_alter where it checks for a form_id "type_node_form". "Type" being the content type.

But if the content is being referenced the form is virtually embedded. Since form nesting is not valid the form's content is included in the parent form. This does have another id so the automatic nodetitle's form_alter function is not fired.

I got stuck with this problem too for a bit until I found this thread.

Perhaps it would help to have some text below the node widget warning users that they still need to hide the field.
