Make automatic node creation optional

First of all thanks for this great module, it is really helpful. Is it possible to make the automatic node creation after setting a template optional? I'd like to give my users the option to set templates, but not always do they need to create new content instantly. After clicking 'set template' only the template should get saved, which is usable from within 'my templates', without creating new content. Do you think that's possible?
