Hi,

I am a dog trainer and I am trying to fing a way to let people signup for a group of 6 classes. I do classes every Saturday, I offer a six week "package" and, here's where it gets tricky, my classes are open enrollment (clients can signup at any time and attend for 6 weeks).

I would ideally like to have the classes listed as events, repeating nodes, whatever works, so they are listed every Saturday. When the client selects a specific date they can sign up for that date plus the nest 5 dates (total 6).

1.Would this module with the signup and/or signup repeat module work for this?

2.If I created a repeating node every Saturday that repeated for 6 weeks (I assume that is how this would work) will that create display issues in drupal cal or blocks?

3.I am also working on creating a googlecal feed, how would that work with the repeating nodes?

Thank you for any input you can provide.

Chris

p.s. I selected 6x1.1, I wil use the most current stable version. I am not sure if that is right.

Hi,

You could use node_repeat to create events that repeat every Saturday (note that it actually creates new event nodes with the same info as the original event node except the date field).

At the moment signup_repeat will only allow signing up for *all* instance of the current and future events in that sequence, there's no option to specify how many events get signed up for. You could either

  • hack signup_repeat to signup for the current plus 5 more,
  • or better yet you could create a patch that allows setting how many events are to be signed up for with signup_repeat (preferably at the event/node level, not globally),
  • or maybe even make a patch that allows the user to choose how many events they want to sign up for (either some fixed options, or range, or they just type in a number, and the options would be disabled if there was only one choice as set by the admin).

If you use Views to display the events you can customise the display (in pages or blocks) however you like (within the limits of the Views style you're using unless you modify that, too).

I don't know anything about googlecal feeds. :) But perhaps you would use a View to get a list of the events?

Cheers,
Oliver
