Using Postgresql 8.x, Drupal 5.2, php 5.1 It would fail on changing the description.

This is for modules/node_images/node_images_module,v 1.7.4.2.

One cannot use " (double quotes) around string values in queries using Postgresql, you need to use ' (single quotes).
(see http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/interactive/sql-syntax.html#SQL-SYNTA... )

UPDATE table SET description="this is a description" WHERE id=3 AND nid=1

Produces the error: coulmn "this is a description" does not exist

UPDATE table SET description='this is a description' WHERE id=3 AND nid=1

Is correct.

So on line 470 of node_images.module (v 1.7.4.2) it should be encapsulated in " (double quotes) not in ' (single quotes)
db_query("UPDATE {node_images} SET description='%s', weight=%d WHERE id=%d AND nid=%d",
