I've tried using the extra fields configuration to assign Nodewords to a particular step, but the meta tags fieldset shows up on all steps still. Any way to make this thing behave?

Ok, my crappy workaround is wrapping the contents of the the nodewords_form() function in nodewords.module with

if(arg(3) == 6) where 6 is the multistep I want nodewords to appear on. This is a pretty lame workaround, but maybe someone else can figure out how to make nodewords and multistep work together properly.

Grumble.
The nodewords fieldgroup seems to break the rules as it integrates with other modules as well.

Is there any way to force it into a fieldgroup by exposing hierarchy on the content type edit page with some DOM manipulation?
Can this be done with a form_alter() perhaps?

In D6 the problem is multistep and nodewords modules weights are both 10 (so nodeworlds runs after multistep). Cranking to 11 seems to do the trick.

Since D7 http://drupal.org/project/metatag doesn't seem to have a higher weight like D6 Nodewords, I'm adding a patch for D6 only.
