Hi. I finally found the time to try out this module. I've been excited about it forever! :)

Just a quick curiosity question...

Since the fields on an entity depend on the bundle, why not separate collections by bundle?

For example, if you have has two different profile types with very different fields, I couldn't make sense of why you'd want to have them on a single collection and have to have the indices shared, etc. Likewise with nodes, etc.

I couldn't find this in any searches, so sorry if this has been discussed somewhere before.

No answer in 2 years, 7.x is a legacy branch for which no new code is being developed, and the block component has been unmaintained since mid-2014, so marking "as designed" for lack of a better answer. If this is still of interest, you could try pinging @chx outside Drupal.org, e.g. on https://twitter.com/chx since he's the one who designed and coded it (and share his answer).
