Problem/Motivation

- add a plugin and set its variant
- add a 2nd plugin, don't set its variant
- click on 'remove' for 2nd plugin

Result: both plugins gone!!

This also happens if the first plugin has already been saved.

It seems to be something to do with the variant having not yet been selected.

Once the variant on plugin 2 is selected, it works properly.
