I just spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my theme switching wouldn't work.

Turns out this module is incompatible with the admin module unless you allow anonymous users to "use admin theme" in your permissions. I don't think this is a bug in Mobile tools.

I just want to post this here so nobody else has to repeat the same garbage I had to go through to figure this out. Best of luck!

Title: Mobile tools theme switching does not work correctly with Admin module, incompatible » Mobile tools theme switching does not work correctly with Administration Theme module

Just to save someone else's headscratching… The workaround described doesn't work with 6.x-2.3, does work with the latest 6.x-2.x-dev (June 2012).
The trouble is with the admin_theme module (not admin); indeed, the permission used for the workaround comes from admin_theme.

I'm reopening the issue for the sake of understanding 2 things:

  • What was fixed between 2.3 and current -dev causing the workaround to work again?
  • If it's not a mobile_tools bug, is there a pointer to another module's issue?

There have been some ~40 commits to Mobile Tools since 6.x-2.3 which have fixed numerous issues, so I'm not sure which would have directly fixed the issue without more information.

In you want to give anonymous users access to the administration theme then they will require the "use admin theme" permission. This is not a Mobile Tools requirement.
