Incompatibility with XML Sitemap Menu

XML Sitemap sub-module XML Sitemap Menu generates XML sitemap items from menu items. When I enable it for a menu with a <firstchild> item I get an item for http://www.example.com/%3Cfirstchild%3E in my sitemap. The solution, of course, is to omit such items from the XML sitemap. If this cannot be accomplished automatically, it should be noted on the project page that the incompatibility exists and that there is a manual workaround: a menu item can be individually excluded from the XML sitemap on that menu item's edit screen. (Note: At the time of this writing, #814172: Menu item always saved with default XMLsitemap setting was preventing the workaround from actually working.)
