If I set some restrictions on the WYSIWYG view mode page it is ignored. I still have lots of view modes in the media browser.

This UI is very confusing. You are actually selecting which view mode should *not* be available in the select list. So you can see that 'Standard' is not an available option in your list. This a duplicate of #2479947: Switch to using an 'allowed view modes' logic instead of restricting view modes but the current UI has been updated to reflect a bit more understanding about what it means when you check/uncheck the view modes.
