I'm working for an organization that uses multisites to segregate content. One of these subsites, off of our main site, happened to be called "media" (eg example.org/media). Because of how subsite are setup (see https://drupal.org/documentation/install/multi-site), a symlink exists in our root directory that points media back to the root directory.

With this in place, all the media browser links broke because they all start with media (eg media/browser). This means that any site that wants to use the media module cannot have a subsite called media.

Since its likely that many large organizations have a "media" section that might be a subsite in a multisite installation, it would be very nice if somebody could look into changing the menu paths to not start with media/ or any other common word that is likely to be used as a subsite. Perhaps an underscore or starting with "system"?

use a subdomain with different document root, or upload those files through drupal so they end up in the sites/*/files directory
