Mandrill is working great for me so far, but I have to send with attachments, tags, and metadata. It'd be great if I could just use drupal_mail() instead of re-writing send code over and over.

The patch attached allows a developer to override some of the default Mandrill options, as well as add attachments, tags, and metadata through a 'mandrill' key in the message paramaters array.

The patch causes fatal erros and I don't see how it helps a developer override the options you mention. We'll be adding file attachment support in a different manor.

Odd, I think I goofed the patch. It should allow you to pass an additional array when you call drupal_mail(). I can redo the patch if the proposed functionality is acceptable.
