Hi

The language switcher block, even when assigned a region does not appear anywhere. I have checked & crosschecked all available settings, I dont see what I have left out.

I have the same problem, the language switcher does not appear. May I did something wrong ?
1/ enable Locale and Content translation modules
2/ enable with translation in Structure / Content type : both articles and basic page
3/ add French language in Configuration / Regional and language
4/ enable module language_switcher

I have the possibility to translate all the page with a new tab : that's ok.
But I add the switcher in the first sidebar menu, I can't see it.

Did I miss something ?

# Edit :
to show the switcher, we have to enable URL detection method in admin/config/regional/language/configure

Oh! Thanks for this fix. Looks like this is actually an issue (seems to be by design, although I can find precious little documentation) with core - I am not using the Language Switcher module and could not get the block to show up until I saw your fix. So I really appreciate your taking the time to come back and update the issue!

yes it's somehow not clear in the documentation, I'll add the explanation to the project page.
