It seems the redirect does NOT take into account any specified query string parameters except q.

Using Adwords, some of my urls are www.domainname.com/?glcid=1234, which gets redirected to www.domainname.com/nl, losing the original parameters, causing the Adwords script to fail the tracking.

I'm currently working on a patch to leave any existing query variables.

The language cookie module does not do redirects, however this is a known issue with Global Redirect.

Or are you referring to URL rewriting / the links in the language switcher block? In such a case there is the question of whether maintaining the query string is even desired behavior.
