The KML module requires the location.module in order to be enabled. However, the location.module is not ported to D5. Is there a version of the location.module floating around that will work for Drupal 5?

Phil, the HEAD release of location module is 5.x compatible. It still has some bugs to iron out but on the whole it's there and working. I wouldn't recommend installing it on a production site until it's actually branched for Drupal 5 officially though.
