I've pushed a markdown version of the specification to github.

90% of the work was already done. Minor link issues.

Also I want to bring to the discussion the issue of Panels Everywhere based themes. The file structure is quite different from a standard theme. It may not even have a page.tpl.php file.

Hey! I hadn't noticed this. I just pushed a canonical working copy of Kit to https://github.com/grayside/kit as-is. Today we might talk about whether to actively embrace Markdown.

Please open a separate issue for Panels.
