chaugi commentedI don't think we should mark as duplicate. I was able to recieve this error on version: 7.x-1.3 (2013-Jul-23) even when issue #1786814 was closed December 20, 2012.
This issue arises when field has "Auto generate the product title" option checked.
It seems that node title is very long and attributes are appended for generated product title in total exceed 255 characters, therefore error arises. Maybe it is reasonable just to truncate 255 symbols of product title, this should solve the problem.

bojanz commentedThe error in #3 is clearly not the same as the one in the OP.
So it never should have been posted to this issue in the first place.
We are fixing it by removing the product autogeneration and integrating with auto_entitytitle instead, see: #1787838: Support Automatic Entity Label module.
