I have Inline working and wanted to test it with Upload Image. The images are not being displayed according to the selected Imagecache preset.

Here's what I did. Enable Inline and the inline file filter
Select the Imagecache presets to use (a small-teaser and a large-page)
Go to my Story content, select the auto show image in body and teaser
Create a new story and attach an image
Submit and view the node. It is the correct size, clicking on it uses Lightbox2.

Next, enable Upload Image
Edit and Submit the same story entry (or create a new one, both recreate this) to get it to add the Images as nodes
View, the Images are displayed using a large size (I'm not sure if it's even an imagecache preset, I think it might be an Image size-need to figure that out), and they fall below the body text.
Previewing the entry displays the Images the correct size, but the page view does not.

So you actually mean that the auto-inline feature works, but the regular inline filter tag doesn't?

I'm sorry, I'm not too savvy on what you mean by your question.
But here is more info :). and it's kind of a lot, but it's a step by step of what I did to figure out where the problem was.

Enable Inline
admin/settings/inline - Image output is Display image with a link to the image file
Story content-type settings - Display attachments inline automatically: in teaser and body
The more I test this the more problems I am finding between Inline, Upload Image and Image Preview. I will just explain here and can open new Issues if you think they are Inline or other Issues to be filed elsewhere.

Inline only enabled:
Create a Story node and attach an Image1 ==> Submit. It is displayed using the selected Imagecache preset. When I click on the Image it displays the Image using Lightbox2.

Next,
Enable Upload Image,
The Story node is still ok, the Images are displayed with the correct Imagecache preset.
Edit the post, attach an Image2 ==> Submit. Image nodes are created for Image1 and Image2. They are now both displayed according to the Upload Image Size at admin/settings/image. Clicking on either Image goes to the Image node.

Next,
Disable Upload Image,
View Story node.
Image1 displays as before(this one was uploaded with only Inline enabled and is using the Inline imagecache preset), Image2 is just text with a link to a "page not found" page (this was attached with Inline and Upload Image enabled.
Editing the Story does not change/fix anything.

Next,
Enable Upload Image
Disable Inline Image
Image1 and Image2 display according to the Upload Image Size in the admin/settings/image
(It seems to me that Upload Image behaves the same with or without Inline, and it handles display of attached Images consistently)

A different test
Enable Upload Image
Create a Story node and attach an Image1 ==> Submit
Display is according to the Upload Image Size in the admin/settings/image
Enable Image Preview
Works fine
Enable Inline
View Story node,
Error appears

The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename.

Image1 displays according to the Upload Image Size in the admin/settings/image
Edit Story node and attach an Image2 It shows in the Image Preview section ==> Submit
Error appears

The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename.

Image1 and Image2 displays according to the Upload Image Size in the admin/settings/image
Edit Story node ==> Submit
Error appears

The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename.

Image1 and Image2 display in the Story node, they also appear in the files list but without an image, just the textarea.
Disable Inline - the error message and the broken files list persists, but the Images still show in the Story node
Disable Image Preview no more error message

BUT
I disabled Inline deleted all the images from the Story node and enabled Upload Image and Image Preview and then attached Images and the error doesn't appear. So it must be related to Images uploaded with Inline enabled.

Sorry if this is too long and broad, but I had such a time figuring out where problems were coming from, it seems that they are connected.

I don't know if that's what he's saying, but that's exactly the case for me. The auto-inline feature displays the image, but the regular image tag doesn't get processed at all. It won't even say "NOT FOUND".

sun’s picture

@diovi: heh... good to know 8) Just to be sure - you did ensure that the Inline filter is enabled for the input format you used? Also, is the inline tag removed (replaced by white-space) or not?

@messenger: You repeatedly stated now that you (somehow) managed to enable Inline module *after* enabling Inline Upload module - which is kinda weird, because Inline Upload depends on Inline and cannot be enabled without it. I (somehow) get the feeling that you might be trying to use Inline v1.x concurrently with Inline v2.x ...?

I disabled Inline and enabled it in different orders with the other modules to figure out where the problem was.

I did NOT enable multiple Inline modules simultaneously. I was giving the combinations I tried, for duplication purposes. I am not manually entering tags to display images.

If I have Upload OR Upload and Inline I get Upload behavior (no imagecache presets are used, only the Upload setting as selected in the Image setting page), if I have Inline I get the imagecache presets shown.

Am I the only one trying to use all of these together and expecting Inline to take over the Image display using an imagecache preset? Is this not the intended behavior? Perhaps the intended behavior is that with Inline and Upload both activated that Upload takes over the Image display in the node?

There is still some weirdness with the Images being visible when they have been uploaded using both Inline and Upload in the same node and that problem is reflected in Preview Image module's display of the images. I'm obviously not communicating anything here. If I have any brainstorms on a non-tech/programmers way to describe the problems I am having I'll post back.

Yes, Inline uses ImageCache for rendering the embedded images in a node only. I can see the use-case of also using an ImageCache preset for the popup window, but you should open a separate feature request for this then, please.

I am not manually entering tags to display images.

...which means that we are speaking about #1 in this issue, as it has been confirmed in #3.

However, syntax/notation of inline tags has changed between 1.x and 2.x, and the inline_upload module needs to be enabled. I recently updated the README.txt to reflect the changes, so you might want to download a new development snapshot of 2.x. Please also keep in mind that there is no upgrade path from 1.x to 2.x yet. It would be great if you could report back whether it was just the new syntax that lead to not working inline tags.

I updated to the dev version Aug 17th release.
I have Inline and Upload Image working with Lightbox. The problems I had before are gone. I've got an Upload Preview Issue to post.

Thanks for the your work on this very nice module.
