Image Links

I think I incorrectly posted this in the post-installation forum so I am posting it again here. Please forgive me.

Also I am not quite sure if it is image, image_assist or image_attach giving me this resounding headache. I would appreciate any help.

I feel like a complete idiot having to post this issue again.

I am using:
mysql
Drupal 5.1
image, image gallery, image assist, image attach

My issue is the following:
I upload and insert images to my nodes using image_attach. The image is displayed inline, the thumbnail view is created. The image node is created.
The thumbnail in the parent node is a link that should either go to the image itself (it would be nice) or to the image node. The problem is that all of my thumbnail images link right back to my front page.

I had this problem on an older site I made using 4.7 and I fixed it. I tried to follow the same method now but the image_attach module has changed so much that I have no idea what I should do and I don't want to ruin my whole site by changing code I don't understand.

Can someone please help. I have trolled the forums and searched for 2 days. I have found similar issues but all of them were 4.7 module solutions or older. I need to get help with the 5.x version and I couldn't find an issue on the project page.
