By the way, WYSIWYG is a great module. Thanks for contributing to that.

I just migrated from FCKeditor module to WYSIWYG w/ FCKeditor. IMCE used to work, but now the IMCE pop-up offers no "browse server" link. See attached screenshot:
http://drupal.org/files/imce-popup___no-browse.png

If I do as this comment suggests, I see a link underneath FCKeditr and I can click it, but when I click "insert into textarea" nothing happens. Obviously this is for text areas, not for WYSWYG's, as the help text states:

If you don't use any WYSIWYG editor, this feature will allow you to add your images or files as html code into any plain textarea. Enter comma separated textarea IDs under which you want to enable a link to IMCE. Hint: ID of Body fields in most node types is edit-body.

Also, this is trivial, but I'd like to mention it (even though I know the best way to get things done on WYSIWYG is to donate money! I'll work on that, because wysiwyg module in Drupal should be standard. But you can see there are two image buttons: http://drupal.org/files/two-buttons_0.png

I'm changing this to "critical" because it renders the module completely inoperable.

This really comes down to reading and re-checking the buttons after you enable IMCE Wysiwyg bridge.

See the attached screenshot - after you install this module go back to your input format(s) that use wysiwyg and re-check all the available buttons. IMCE will be at the end of the buttons. To get both image + the browse buttons you need to check both image and IMCE buttons.

Thank you very much for taking the time to investigate this and help me with my misunderstanding. And I appreciate the screenshot, too.

still new here -- where do I find the input formats?

I used a different book's instructions and a clean install of install FCKeditor and IMCE and the browse button appears. All's OK.

konkanorg’s picture

Can you please tell me which book's instruction you used. This is frustrating for me , I have re-installed FCKEditor and IMCE three times now, I still face the same issue. I virtually have done all the steps most of the forums are talking about. Still no luck.

glass.dimly’s picture

@konkanorg,

One must use the WYSIWYG module: http://drupal.org/project/wysiwyg in order to use the WYSIWYG IMCE Bridge module. WYSIWYG uses the FCKeditor libaries, but not the FCKeditor module. WYSIWYG is a separate module, in other words, that allows the use of multiple wysiwygs, including but not limited to FCKeditor. FCKeditor: http://drupal.org/project/fckeditor is a module that enables Drupal to interface with only the fckeditor wysiwyg library found here: http://ckeditor.com/download . WYSIWYG module is another way to interface with the fckeditor library, or external plugin.

Once installed, the IMCE button must be added to the FCKeditor as pictured in the screenshot or to whichever wysiwyg editor you have configured. To access those settings: http://yoursite.org/admin/settings/wysiwyg , enable an editor, then click "edit". Then navigate to the "buttons and plugins" section and enable the IMCE button.

I keep learning this fantastic Drupal, and now I see where the list is in Wysiwyg for fckeditor per the screenprint in #3. IMCE is not at the end of the my list after all the table options, and fckeditor still does not have the browse button. Wysiwyg says to put fckeditor in the libraries folder, which I've done so Wysiwyg can find it. Any further troubleshooting?

glass.dimly’s picture

It seems that your WYSIWYG module is good.

You must also install IMCE in addition to the IMCE Bridge module: http://drupal.org/project/imce

Once final thing, once you enable the IMCE button, you must also enable the Image button.

eff_shaped’s picture

Agree - it would be great to know which book you used, joyseeker.

OK, so I got the bridge module (which is strange because I haven't needed it before on other sites). When I look at my Full HTML input format currently nothing is checked in the buttons section, yet all the tools I'd ever want appear (accept the "browse server").
If I just click the IMCE button option, all the other tools disappear. And I if click all the tools, the "browse server" button does appear but the regular toolbar is messed up and none of my formatting is saved including the images.

Anyway, I'm not sure what's going on but I think it might be best of me to start again: remove fckeditor, the WYSIWYG module, the bridge module, and IMCE, and do a fresh install off all of them.

Again, though, this is the first I've heard of the 'bridge' module and yet the browse server button is working fine on other sites?

juanjo_vlc’s picture

I think it would be great if IMCE gets active "by default", instead of having to check all checkboxes on wysiwyg configuration page, there are a lot of checkboxes to check, and if you enable IMCE, wysiwyg an wysiwyg IMCE bridge is because you plan to use all of them.

I thought I would put this out there for others that may have "lost" the Download link in IMCE.

I had renamed the IMCE user profiles to match the profiles in CKEditor: Default and Advanced.
What I didn't notice is that the first profile automatically gets assigned to super user (user #1).

So, when I started setting up the directory path statements limiting the "default" user, I was limiting the administrator. But the name change confused me. I kept checking the Advanced profile and could see that everything was open and checked.

What I didn't notice is that the "default" setting was assigned to the admin, limiting my access to upload using IMCE.

The two screen shots attached show the correct way to name the profiles as well as the permissions I set to limit the actual default profile that I use for unauthorized users.

Had previously installed FCKeditor under sites/all/modules as well as sites/all/libraries. Once I removed the FCKeidtor module under sites/all/modules browse button appeared.

I had been dealing with this same issue. I never needed to use the IMCE Wysisyg Bridge. I had installed FCKEditor and IMCE. The FCKEditor was working fine, with the exception of the "Browse" button missing off of the IMCE.

After installing both modules, I had to go into /admin/settings/fckeditor and make sure that both the Default and Advanced Users were specified to have IMCE selected as the File Browser Type. (See Screenshot1.) So simple, and yet I had only changed it for the Default, not the Advanced.

Greetings you all. My first post although I'm visiting Drupal website quite a while.
I've been using Drupal for 1 year, made about 15 websites using it. Love it, that's sure. I was reading some posts about Drupal should have rich text editor by default. I disagree, but fact that setting of wysiwyg and editor is complicated is true(with picture browse button). I've managed it on 2 websites using CKeditor, IMCE and bridge. Funny thing happens in my case. First couple contents it was working fine, but later on browse button is not present. But when I edit that content later, it's there and working fine :S. What happens I don't know an it's making me a problem because it won't appear in block(talking about that browse server button).
Neither after reconfiguring block (maybe because it is not edit, it' s configure :D) and there's no way to provide users to upload images and edit inline without connecting to server.
Did anyone had similar experience.
Please help I'm desperate. Tried almost everything.
P.S.
Sorry if I made some mistakes, English is not my language!

EDIT:
reinstaling modules helped!
wysiwyg, imce and bridge

EDIT OF EDIT:
not for long, please help. Browse button appears for editing, not for making new content or blocks

this work for me.
at first go to permissions and check allow access for fckeditor for your desire Role.
then
go to admin/settings/fckeditor
in profile section click edit link in front of advanced profile.
then in file browser setting select IMCE file browser and in basic setup section choose roles who you want can upload files with imce and see browse server button .
then save settings.
DONE!

There's too much confusion about CKEditor (an entirely different editor than FCKeditor), as well as the stand-alone FCKeditor module. Both topics being completely unrelated to this issue.

The only known issue about FCKeditor integration is #664822: Wrong parameter for LinkBrowserURL in FCKeditor

Title: IMCE button on FCKeditor doesn't offer "browse server" link » IMCE image pane in (F)CKeditor doesn't offer "browse server" link
Version: 6.x-1.0 » 6.x-1.1

I'm seeing the same thing in CKEditor. The IMCE/Image buttons are available for each profile that is allowed to upload / add images to a post. But only the User-1 USER sees the "browse server" button when they click on the image icon and get the first pop-up. If we examine the code, the button is there, but there's a CSS issue, so it's neither visible, nor clickable. And this is true in multiple browsers (tested in Safari and Firefox so far).

The really strange thing is that there is a workaround, of sorts. If I log in as a normal "author", a staff role with a lot of permissions who should be able to upload images and add them to content (and everything is correctly configured for them to be able), I see this behavior -- the button is gone. But if I click on "Save" or "Preview", then click the "image" icon, the "Browse server" link is there and usable and I can manage files on the server, create new directories, upload to them, etc... and of course I can insert the image and it all works great.

So this is rather a bizarre bug. I wonder if others have seen anything like this or if others who are also missing the "Browse server" button can get it visible by first clicking on the "Save" or "Preview" link. I suspect the issue could be in the CKEditor library, itself, so may not belong to this module, but I thought I'd add a follow-up and my observations.

I'll re-mark this as "active" since I think I was able to replicate the problem, though I'm still not sure why it seems to be an issue isn't visible to everyone.

mlecha’s picture

Same issue as #24. "Browse Server" button only appears for user 1

Changing the CSS display property to "visible" in Firebug shows the "Browse Server" button, but does not enable the functionality.

<td style="width:110px" role="presentation" class="cke_dialog_ui_hbox_last"><a id="cke_81_uiElement" aria-labelledby="cke_80_label" role="button" class="cke_dialog_ui_button" hidefocus="true" title="Browse Server" href="javascript:void(0)" style="margin-top: 10px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: none; -moz-user-select: none;"><span class="cke_dialog_ui_button" id="cke_80_label">Browse Server</span></a></td>

IMCE 7.x-1.4
IMCE Wysiwyg API bridge 7.x-1.x-dev
Wysiwyg 7.x-2.1

mlecha’s picture

Fixed for me: Administration > IMCE

I had to apply a "configuration profile" under the "Role-profile assignments" for the role of that user.

"Browse Server" button appears.

Since the role was defined after IMCE was configured a revisit to that configuration page is required.

johnTEN’s picture

Im having exactly the same problem . I think its with IMCE not the bridge as I started having it with a pure ckeditor IMCE and I switched to WYSISYG combo with the bridge and have the same problem

Guys - all of u should try disabling conflicting chrome extensions - begin with Adblock Plus / Better popup blocker - as a start....

Disabling those helped me.

Also test with disabling some js related modules - like Superfish menus / nice menus / colorbox / lightbox...
