fietserwin6.x-2.x was an attempt to refactor the code base of this module. This version never made it to "recommended release" as the attempt was not fully successful and resulted in a.o. the removal of text actions. Due to lack of time at our side we decided to drop the 6.x-2.x version and focus on bug solving in the 6.x-1.x version.
We can understand that this answer may be unsatisfactorily to people who already installed the 6.x-2.x version, but we hope that they do understand and accept our reasons for doing so.
What to do when you have 6.x-2.x installed?

dman commentedGood answer.
The 2.x-dev is not going to make it to a stable 6.x-2.0 release.
It was the branch for a large amount of experimental refactoring - and set the stage for the D7 remake, with planning for the new architecture. It added an amount of stuff but also removed a few things. It never hit 'recommended'. The branch was created so that drastic changes (file renames, include order changes) could be trialled without disturbing users of the stable 6.x-1.x branch.
At this point in this year, with pretty much everything only moving forward in D7, the 6.x-2.x is pretty much a dead end (though it advised the D7 work).
The 6.x-1.x is going to go into maintenance & bugfix only.

My questions:
Dear DMAN,
Thanks for writing ImageCache Actions module. I am currently using ImageCache Actions 6.x-2.0, but /admin/reports/updates said that it is not supported. I visited your module webpage and it shows 6.x-1.8 as the most current version.
My current Drupal core is Drupal core 6.22. Can I ask you a few questions?
1. Should I uninstall ImageCache Actions 6.x-2.0 and re-install ImageCache Actions 6.x-1.8? Will ImageCache Actions 6.x-1.8 work with Drupal core 6.22?
2. I plan to major upgrade my Drupal from 6 to 7. And the instruction said that before doing that, all my modules should minor upgrade to the most current Drupal 6 version because Drpal 7 expects the most current Drupal 6 version when upgrading. In the case of ImageCache Actions, which one is the most current version? 6.x-2.0 sounds more recent, but 6.x-1.8 has a newer updated date (2011-Feb-17), while 6.x-2.0 was last updated on May 25, 2010.
I am confused, Please advice. Thanks.

DMAN's answer:
6.x-2.x was an experimental branch. Was going to be the next-gen for D7, but then D7 caught up, and we put D6 into maintenance mode - so rolled back to stable and OK.
Mainly because 6.x-2.x REMOVED some features (by design) for a re-architecture.
1. there is no real need to uninstall or downgrade from 6.x-2.x unless you need a bugfix that's added later in 1.x. It works as well as it works, but has no further development
2.
There is not/will not be much of an upgrade path inside the module to D7. That is to say - it works just fine in both versions, but you will probably have to re-visit your settings and maybe adjust them by hand. No big deal if you only have 4 or 5 presets.
Therefore there is no big difference at all between going from 6.x-1.x or 6.x-2.x to 7.x You'll get the same amount of settings that need checking in both cases.
So don't worry about the 'most recent version'. They both work the same.
