My host does not have PHP 5.2 yet but I am keenly interested in using this module for Ubercart images. Is there a version I could use for D6 that does not require PHP 5.2, or is there a work around?

It's actually ImageAPI that requires PHP 5.2.

Here's what display in my list of modules:
ImageAPI supporting multiple toolkits.
This module requires PHP version 5.2.* and is incompatible with PHP version 5.1.6.
