I am trying to optimize my site.

I have tried varying compression ratios for GD2 and ImageMagick.

I uploaded the same file when ImageMagick Compression Quality was set at 90% 75% and 1%. Each time, the uploaded file size is equal to the others, and about equal to the original file size. The only time I notice reduced visual quality is at 1% (images are around 640 * 480) .

The exact same result when I try using GD2.

From the reduced visual quality, it seems the compression is doing something, but file size is not being reduced.

Any ideas, tips, corrections on my incorrect expectations? Thank you.

these should really only come into play when you're resizing via imagecache. core uses it's own set of imagetoolkits and they have different settings. you might try changing those.
