I know the maintainers of this module are swamped but if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Very simply, I want users who do not have admin to be able to create galleries.

Thanks but I see that it allows you to control who can view, edit, post, and delete from a gallery. It does not affect the ability to create galleries. I just want users to be able to create galleries which everyone can see but only they can post, edit, delete from. That module seems to cover everything except the creation.

There may be modules that do this for taxonomy -- look for something like that.

There are other gallery modules already written, but they don't use the image module if that it what you are committed to. They are cck_gallery views_gallery and node_gallery.

If you are comfortable with doing some set-up work, you can use ideas from http://raincitystudios.com/blogs-and-pods/hubert/outline-ui-design-ajax-... or http://www.lullabot.com/articles/photo-galleries-views-attach and Node-based galleries with CCK and Views to make your own user galleries.

There is also a discussion at Image Gallery Per User.

Actually, now that I think about it, what is the real problem?

If a user is allowed to create an image, then to create a gallery that image just needs to be given a term in the Gallery taxonomy.

So is your real problem allowing users to create a taxonomy term?

Yup -- see if there are modules that delegate creation of terms.

Hmm, a thought: you could always set the gallery vocab to tags.... ;)

I use a module called hierarchical_select which greatly enhances taxonomy selection. In it's 'Editability settings' you can allow the user to add new terms to the vocabulary.
