The current error msg, for example, is like
You have selected 1 image but the maximum for a Story is 1. The new image has not been uploaded
, which is not that helpful for non-technical people.
Could we change it to
You have # image(s) selected in the drop-down selection box, and the number reached the upper limit of the attached images for content type XYZ. The new image that you tried to upload is ignored. If you'd like to re-upload the image, please remove some selected image(s) or select "None" to remove all the attached images.

joachim commentedThat's really wordy! How about:
We can safely assume that if the user just tried to upload an image, that's what they want to do -- so we don't need to say 'If you'd like to re-upload...'. And the 'None' option is plainly visible.
skyredwangI would much prefer to mention 'None' option in the context, since from our experience, normal internet users are just too %*&%&)&( ...... sorry.
how about this?
skyredwangCould we revisit this issue? see above?
joachim commented'needs review' means there's a patch to review btw.
Ok how about:
"You already have the maximum number of images selected for a TYPE. To upload an image you must first unselect at least one image."
skyredwangYour latest error msg doesn't include the variable X and Y, which is less informative.
On the other hand, if we look at all the versions above, my point was to add "Unselect some images or select "None" to remove all" as hint; this is because the range of audience for image upload is quite wide; not only system admins use this function but also many people who don't have much publishing experience.
#2 msg is already quite shot, and only 6 words longer than your #1. Please reconsider it.
joachim commentedI really really don't like the 'select None to remove all' text. It's too low-level.
joachim commented"There are @count images already attached. A new image cannot be uploaded until one or more attached images are unselected."
skyredwangThanks for revisiting this. I think the last version is clean and clear.
