Hi,

I just wanted to open this as a spin-off to the infamous #81102: Attach Multiple Images with image_attach using Drupal upload mechanism issue. It's a great great thing that the module now allows multiple images to be attached to a node. The next step would be to simplify this process by allowing some sort of multiple-selection upload or an AJAXified version of the upload that doesn't require constant reloading of the node edit page.

I'm sure that many people would love to have this and that some work has been done on this already within 81102, so maybe we could get the conversation started on this? :)

PS. I'd be glad to help with development, but I would need some guidance with the module first, i.e. with the implementation design.

Thanks,
Martin

I seem to remember that ages ago (years rather than months!) I took a look at how core's upload module does the ajaxy thing, and I concluded that very little of it could be reused: most of the functions had code that made assumptions about upload module. So there is a fair bit of work to do here: we can mimic what upload does, but we have to rewrite it for our own purposes.

I don't have much time to work on this, but if other people get the ball rolling I will review patches and see what I can do to lend a hand.

Mmh, an alternative would be something like a bulk upload of a .zip file or something like that that automatically extracts the uploaded file and attaches the images inside. Do you think this is easier?

I've also filed a request with image_fupload to make their module work with image_attach, atm it works with imagefield and Image content type, but not image attach.

Cheers,
Martin

Unfortunately, AJAX/AHAH in Drupal 6 is a horrible beast to implement and understand. This kind of functionality is built-in in D7, so it doesn't make much sense to still try to implement it for D6.
