when clicking on the 'add image'-link, you'll get an error in you submit-page under the 'Image'-field, which says:
You must select an image for upload.

I think that this error only should be displayed when the you clicked the Preview button, because then all fields should be validated.. Am I right?

This is correct. The problem is now fixed in the current CVS version.
