It seems inconsistent that name and date of submission appear in the image gallery when I have deactivated "Display post information on image" in the global theme setting.

This is fixed in CVS-HEAD: when you disable "Display post information on image" (theme settings), the post information (who and when) are not displayed in the gallery.

It seems to be fixed in versions 1.155 (CVS-HEAD) and 1.146.2.6 (DRUPAL-4-6).
