I'm using this keep tree patch aka import according to subdirectory/subgallery ( http://drupal.org/node/225014 ) and also looking at the thread on filenaming/storing in subdirectories ( http://drupal.org/node/103793 ) .... so my question is, can the original date of the file on my local version be preserved after upload? Sure, the thumbnail and preview will be regenerated and have new dates.. Can the orig keep it's date? Maybe in a cck field?
I have photos going back to 1999, and I like the idea of using the build in sort by date from oldest to newest ... but it will sort based on when I upload them, not the dates on the files before upload. I would like to preserve that info, maybe by during the upload (using the keep tree patch), reading the date and filing in a data field? Or using file manipulation functions to "set" the date on the uploaded file to match the date that was on the file locally...
How do others handle this "date taken" type of thing? manually label and with cck and views?
