If I understand correctly, Make data serializer customizable is about replacing all serialisation in D8 for a custom solution (such as igbinary) whereas this module specifically replaces the cache get and set to use igbinary?

If this is the case, are you planning on porting the module to D8 for cache get and set in the meantime?

The discussion was opened 6 years ago and did not make it into D8 core as yet. My feeling is that if it happens, it might be in D9 (if we're lucky)
