Can this protection be added to other places than comments?

We use Honeypot to try and prevent spam registrations from coming through on our Drupal site. Unfortunately we still see spam registrations coming through occasionally, in blocks of around fifty to a hundred, although it's starting to look like they're mostly human spam accounts, rather than bot spam.

I found this module as an addition to the Honeypot module, and we've signed up for an account and added the code. It works swimmingly, except it only works on comments (in a hook_presave()). I have configured it to put a Quicklink at the bottom of every page and we don't want to turn it on on every page as we have page caching enabled.

We'd like it to be present on user forms as well. Is there any plan to add wider support? Should we need to add the suport at all?
