Drupal Educators?

Most Drupal developers will think this poster is not well educated, and they are right ,as far as Drupal. I am asking for very basic info., sorry. None-the-less, there are a few of us that have the same right to be here as anyone else, we just are not tech savvy and therefore do not understand many Drupal issues like you guys do. We need to know how certain Drupal items work in order to take our business dream through all the stages before going "live". I know that a developer is indispensable though also know that the better I understand what you guys do the easier I will have of making a business work. Bear with me, for now, as I not only don't know the proper answers to the questions, I am struggling just to ask the right questions, the ones that matter most.

Who we are

  • a travel website
  • Using Drupal 7.
  • Need a new hosting company
  • Hundreds of pages in size
  • Used Dru*ion [won't spell it perfectly in order to protect the guilty] in the past, as they specialize in just Drupal Hosting...so maybe they were good who knows. They were hostile and tried to bill my credit card without authorization.Paid them about $300 dollars in, yet our site never went live yet.
  • Looking to spend approx. $50 per mo. to start.
  • Were told we should start with a VPS. Not sure what we need though sounds right.
  • Priority 1 is SPEED. Want FAST. What is the speed of fastest sites? What number could I go with to look for in a hosting company that would rock?

Priority 2 is user friendly on front side and user friendly in back office and user friendly at hosting co. Must have a CPanel

  • Lastly, are there any red flags to check for in bad hosting? Any warning signs? What systems does a great Drupal host use?
  • Very lastly, should the host only do Drupal and not also wordpress, joomla etc.?

Could anyone check these companies out [links below) just briefly to let me know if they are great , average, or straight bad?

  1. http://www.serverpoint.com/en/cpanel-vps.phtml
  2. http://www.a2hosting.com/vps-hosting/
  3. http://www.acquia.com/acquia-network-subscriptions
  4. http://lumous.io/products/compute
  5. http://www.jaguarpc.com/vps-hosting/
  6. Other better?

Thanks in advance for anyone letting me know. Have a very Happy New Year guy and gals...that will be in less than 5 hours ....Terri

Really sorry, but this is an issue queue for a Drupal related project called 'Hosting' rather than a place to discuss hosting.

The best place to get an answer to your questions would be the: Hosting forum, I'd imagine.

Sorry I can't be of further help, and I hope that you get your answers eventually.
