jquery hint plugin and how is this module related to it?

They are completely separate projects. Though I was aware of the jquery.hint.js library (and a few others) when I wrote Hint module, there is no code shared between Hint and any of these other libraries. I wanted to write hint from scratch so that we were not bound by any license restrictions, because Drupal.org CVS policy does not allow any non-GPL code within its repository.
