What is up with these D8 branches? Why not regular 8.x-1.x and/or 8.x-2.x. What branch is used for D8 development?

Yes, the branches are currently terribly incorrect, I suspect it was a confusion between branches and tags. Currently the only 8.x branch should be 8.x-1.x.

To fix, an issue will need to be filed in the Webasters issue queue.

This issue makes it difficult for people to contribute, escalating to major.
