fix groups.module in 4.4.1.

I'm putting this here in the hope that it will be a stub for discussion and TODOs relating to the upgrade of this wonderful and greatly needed module. I know there are people working on it, but other thatn Kiles, I don't know who they are. In particular, if those who are currently working on this could break down the remaining work into tasks, maybe they'd be offered a little help from the community.

As a side note, for what it is worth, the patches in the 4.4.1 version are not up to date. I patched a new install the best I could, and here is the updated patch. This still doesn't make working code, but may be helpful if anyone is trying to upgrade an earlier working version.

Thanks for the patches! I will look at them as time allows.

Unfortunately I am the only one working on this module. There is hope that a more general scheme will be implemented in core, however.

I do have a +- working version of groups.module for CVS, it still has a few quirks, though. If you want to you can try the cvs version with your patches for 4.4. It /might/ work.

Did you have a patch to convert the groups.module file for use with Drupal 4.4.1 as well?

I was unable to get the modules patch to work at all. For me, all hunks failed for all modules. Am I missing something?
