Your response will help shape the future of the Drupal business ecosystem.I'm moving a site that uses Organic Groups from D6 to D7 (the module support for 8 just isn't there and our hand is being forced by tech upgrades at our webhost). My rationale for maybe wanting to switch: I like the Groups data model better for what we need, we need group forums and OG Forum was abandoned (a new maintainer tried to pick it up but there haven't been updates for some months) and OG is extremely slow with updates when it comes to new Drupal versions.
So, basically what the title says. I'm already planing on using Migrate to do the port. I see now that there's support for moving to OG1 to OG 2 included with Migrate which was one of the sticking points last time I was looking at this project, so switching is not a foregone conclusion.

Going from a D6 OG site to hopefully a D8 Open Social/Group site.
@ElleKitty, If you have the resources to implement custom solutions (bug fixes, modules, ...), I suggest 8 for many reasons, the future upgrade path and backwards compatibility being the biggest. You're going to have another large migration project when D7 hits EOL, unlike 8 to 9 which will be almost as easy as upgrading a module.
If there aren't any solutions out here by the time I start my project, I will report back if I go the OG to G route.

soul88We thank everyone for their collaboration on this issue, but as the D7 version is no longer supported, we will now close all D7 issues to keep the issue queue a bit tidier. This information won't go anywhere, it just won't show up on the list of open issues anymore.
