I have both parents and students in my OG for my class. I have siblings in the class. I'd like to assign parents to students so parents can see both of their kids' grades without giving them a "teacher" role to see everyone else's grades.

I have not used this module yet, but I am later. Have you tried it with user_relationships module? It supports role.module.

This is an interesting idea. I am not sure how to approach it right now, but I will leave it as an active request in case someone is able to work on it.
