This bug needs the Locations module to be recreated.

Can't create a gmaps macro with various lines and markers and use it as a base map onto which nodes with locational properties will be superimposed.

Example: A gmaps macro with regional boundaries and village locations in the satellite view would be my base map. I would then have a series of project nodes, each with locational data, which would then be paced on the base map, maybe by taxonomy term or some other filter.

The two elements working separately: a gmap macro with points and lines, and a view of several locational nodes. But I can’t get them to work together.

It works fine for me. See:
http://photo-tips.ca/map/node

The red marker and the red lines are put on the map by adding the info ot the macro on admin/settings/gmap_locaiton. Note I will be removing this from the map in a few days, so if you don't see it after a few days, don't assume it didn't work.

make sure you are using an up to date version of gmap.module (cvs is best). For the lines make sure that the xmlns thing is set as per the documentation.
