Problem/Motivation

If multiple page requests try to create a marker directory, mkdir() can race and cause a warning.

This looks to be related to https://www.drupal.org/project/geofield_map/issues/3270837.

Steps to reproduce

Run multiple concurrent requests that trigger creating the directory. Visual diff test suites with multiple viewports are a good candidate.

Proposed resolution

If mkdir fails, try using prepareDirectory() to make sure it's ready to go.
