I am setting up a new site using Drupal 5.3, after constant server errors forced me to switch over from 1&1 hosting. I have copied the databases over, and am installing modules one at a time, starting with Gallery.

I have been trying for some time to get my Gallery URL Rewrite to work correctly. Today it seems like I finally got it to work, but it has produced a new error.

When I go to admin/settings/gallery it reports: 

    * Gallery2 API version: 7.18 / 1.2
    * Overall Status (Installation) [OK]

And in fact the site seems to be operating more or less correctly as far as I can tell. However, if I go to the install page, or any of the other Gallery module menus, I get "A serious error has occured. This can happen due to an incorrect configuration or a bug in the gallery module. If you plan to submit a bug report to the issue queue at drupal.org consider to include the pre-generated report file." followed by a long list of errors. This also comes up if I try to configure any of the gallery-created blocks. However Gallery itself seems to work correctly. The full text of the error is below:

If I knew how to manually delete all of the gallery settings that would be a start - I don't know where in the database they are stored. I tried upgrading from beta 5 to beta 6 in case that overwrote some of the settings, but it had no effect.

Could you please provide some details about your rewrite configuration? What did you enter for the 'Show Item' rule in G2? Try to disable all rules except 'Show Item' and set this to 'gallery/v/%path%'. Are you running a single- or multisite Gallery2? What rules were added to your .htaccess file?

Most of the settings are stored in the 'variable' table. You can manually remove all settings by running DELETE FROM {variable} WHERE name LIKE 'gallery_%' OR disable the gallery module and 'uninstall' it on the 'Modules' page. However some settings are stored in Gallery2 internally, such as the rewrite rules.

I already had all rules except 'Show Item' disabled, but I had the rule set simply to 'gallery/%path%' I gather this was causing the conflict. since once I changed it, the errors disappeared, and the site is working fine now.

Thank you for the help! I'd advise documenting the instructions for URL rewrite rules more thoroughly, though to make it clear what can be used with the gallery module.

Fixed my problems by turning off the rewrite rules in G2 and then starting over. Had a problem due to a multsite install.
