Anyone know of a way to enable this function based on a specific theme? E.g redirect only if x theme is active. I'm sure there is a way to do this with some rule or ThemKey integration.

There already is a Rule allowing to redirect based on condition. So the only thing missing is a Rules condition depending on the theme.
I don't think "Front page" should carry this Rules condition. Maybe see if ThemeKey has one?
