Hi

I've been using the Zen project for a long time but am fascinated by your work. I had spent a considerable time on Zen's CSS, organizing it for re-use. Your CSS is already wonderful :)

The way I keep my Zen CSS files is that I've segregated all the CSS into 3 parts. File1 contains CSS which I never change. File2 contains only colors. File3 contains other properties which I change often but not colors. I call them common, colors and tweaks respectively.

I was wondering if you, or anybody else here likes the idea and would implement it for this project. I would love to help here but it's going to be a while before I use this project.

Let me know in any case...

Thanks

Dhruv

Hi Dhruv,

I'm glad you like Framework.

This was something I considered when I first began Framework. However, I came to the conclusion that most users will discard the small bit of color code when they are creating a new theme. Also, a user may decide to drastically change the structural HTML, and with multiple CSS files defining code for the same elements, it becomes that much harder for the user to easily customize the theme. For those users who don't plan on changing the theme very much, I've added a list of what color codes are used at the top of the file. Using a find and replace with those color codes, the default colors of Framework can be changed very quickly.

I find that separating structural CSS from stylistic CSS actually creates a more complex and less organized work flow. When designing an element, I never find myself initially just changing one of these elements. It was my goal to create a very simplified work flow when using Framework, and deciding to use one CSS file and make it as easy as possible to decipher is perhaps the most important aspect of the theme.

Framework may evolve into something like this in the future if the necessity arises, but as the transition to CSS3 occurs, I believe things will only become simpler.

Thanks for being an involved user.
