wouldn't the module fit there better than in 'Core - optional' ?

Core - optional is reserved for the optional core modules (forum, comment etc) and should not be used for contributed modules. Either use Development or leave package empty (see also http://drupal.org/node/101009).

The current info-file (cvs version 1.1.2.3) doesn't have a package line at all ...
