I've installed Footnotes but:

  • The square bracket [fn] tag doesn't work at all:- Inserting the text: "[fn] blah [ /fn]" isn't filtered but instead is echoed as is, producing the output text: "[fn] blah [/fn]"
  • The angle bracket < fn> tag is filtered out leaving only its text:- Inserting the text: "< fn>blah < /fn>" produces the output text: "blah" ie in plain text, and unlinked

Freelinking is working as expected. There is a setting for Freelinking to default to show only the link text if a target is not found but that is not selected and instead the error is directed to Seach.

Any feedback at all on this would be great.

Thanks

Hi Talvi,

It sounds like you need to enable the "Footnotes" filter. This will need to be set for each input format you'd like to use with footnotes. You can enable the filter if you...

  1. Go to "Configuration > Content authoring > Text formats" (/admin/config/content/formats/filtered_html).
  2. Click the "configure" link for the text format you'd like to enable the filter on.
  3. In the "Enable filters" section, check the "Footnotes" option.
  4. Click "Save configuration".
  5. After the page saves, check the "Filter processing order" section and ensure that the "Footnotes" filter appears at the top of the list. If it does not, drag it to the top of the list and resave the page.
  6. Repeat for any other input formats you want to use footnotes on.
  7. Confirm that the issue is resolved.

If you already have the footnotes filter enabled can you provide more information? What Drupal release are you running? What other filters do you have enabled? What is the filter processing order for the filters currently enabled?

I also noticed that you opened another similar ticket #1820944: Fails to work clash with Freelinking . If ticket 1820944 is for the same issue, can we close one of them?

Thanks

I also need to use footnotes. My problem is that my footnotes appear in superscript in CKEditor, but once I save and view the page, the numbers revert to regular size and placement. For me, there is no "Footnotes" option in the "Enabled Filters" section. Any idea why or what I should do?
