Hi thanks for developing this module. I think it might be what I am searching
for.
I am looking for a module that will allow my users to flag the content of a
user and then hide ALL nodes that are written by that user. Sort of like the
"foe" modules for forum softwares. This allows our members to "hide" content
from members they don't care for, so we can keep our drama to a minimum.
Would this module allow me to do that? I am not a web developer -- just a mom
and nonprofit leader who is trying to build a new website for my chapters...
so Im not really at the level to write my own module... I'm really hoping
that your module will do the trick.
Can you tell me if there is a way to make this work with your module?

rdeboerHi Heather,
Thank you for your interest in this module.
I see what you're after and I think it is a great idea.
Unfortunately, the module cannot do this yet. However it has the necessary architecture in place. And since your feature request is in line with what the module does already, it would be an appropriate extension.
I've worked out how to do it. But I'm off to New Zealand soon to speak at DrupalSouth and for a holiday, so it probably won't happen before the end of this month.
In the mean time let's think how we're going to call this new feature?
I like the ones you suggest: "to mute a user", "to foe a user".
Possible alternatives: "to filter a user", "to censor", "to muzzle" ?
While you have not specifically requested it, I guess the "muting" ideally should extend to include all comments posted by that user, not just nodes, right?

rdeboerA first cut of the "user-muting" flag is available in Flag & Hide version 7.x-1.x-beta4 and later. Supports nodes only, not comments yet.

hfortune commentedThis is WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for a great module!
I have one final request (if possible)? Is there a way to set this so that certain roles cannot be flagged? Right now, I have it so that my leader cannot flag members (which is good, because they need to be paying attention!), and only the members are able to mute each other. But the members CAN mute our leaders and I would prefer for them to HAVE to read posts by leadership (who should be behaving properly anyway!)
is there a way to set it so that certain roles cannot be flagged?
Thank you again and again for working on this for me! It is a really wonderful solution and is seriously going to revolutionize our network -- so many of our chapter-wide issues start with a small disagreement between one or two people... if we can nip that in the bud, I think it will mean much more peaceful experiences for our members and staff!

That's great to hear. Hope it helps to prevent feathers flying in the hen house!
I've checked in further enhancements (7.x-1.x-dev) to realise the request from #4 Is there a way to set this so that certain roles cannot be flagged?.
You configure the roles that may be flagged/muted at the top of the Flag & Hide configuration page.
At the moment the scope of the setting is "global", that is it applies across all roles/users. It's NOT a "matrix" of tick-boxes whereby each role can be configured differently to allow muting of certain roles, but not others.
By default authenticated users can be muted, but administrators cannot. As mentioned, you can change this on the Flag & Hide config page: /admin/config/people/flag_hide.
Any user can be "unmuted" regardless.
Enjoy. Let me know how you go with this.
