As i try to upload a file to the server, i get a error message and can't upload. For example, for a gif file :

The selected file drupal1.gif could not be uploaded. Only files with the following extensions are allowed: gif, tiff, jpg, png, ico, jpeg, jpg.

But gif is in fact in the list of allowed extensions...
Seems there's something wrong somewhere.
Any idea ?

when you put the extensions, these should be separated by white spaces and not by commas (,)
For example:
gif tiff jpg png ico jpeg jpg

Recommendation:
you should be read the help text fields. See the image bellow.

Yeah that's right, separate with spaces, not commas. FYI, this has been fixed in the Drupal 7 core version of FileField, where both spaces and commas are allowed (though commas are stripped out later, since Drupal's validation functions require space-separation).

This has also been fixed in #612502: Allow commas in permitted file extentions and will be included in the 3.3 version.
