when i attach a docx file instead of downloading i see a open file with special characters. what if i had done wrong or really bug. also i will see if file is pdf open in browser.

Actually I am using a cck field of file type. i have create a node with file of extension .docx. when i click on the file name it is open bad characters in the browser. what i need is when i click on the file name it will be downable. If i create a view and add cck field in views and click the file name same problem as with node view.
this problem is coming on my server but when i test it to other demo site it is fine although i have same settings for both.

I think I understand the request, title updated to match the problem. Are you using private file downloads? If not, FileField has no control over actually downloading files.

but this is how we can do downloadable pdf files ... what would be if we want to make the docx files downloadable
